A Diary
Monday, 27th July, 2009:
The first day at the school camp in Finsterau
“Wow, it’s a big bus”, I said to my mum, when I left our car. I fetched my baggage and went into the bus. My friends and I sat together.
After two hours we arrived at the National Park Bayerischer Wald. We started a hiking tour with our teachers. My class saw bison, bears, wolves, wild boars and some other wild animals. It was very interesting.
After that we went to our youth hostel in Finsterau. Mr Hoffmann, one of our teachers, held a long speech about what we could do and could not do at the camp.
Then we went to our rooms. I shared the room with Stefan, Lukas, and Dominik.
The hostel had a big swimming-pool, a beach-volleyball-field, a football-field, and four table-tennis-tables.
At six o'clock we ate supper in the dining-room. After the meal we played football. Then we went to bed at half past nine.
So a nice day finished.

It was a foggy day, but it began with a fantastic breakfast.
At half past nine we started on our way to the open-air museum in Finsterau. On the way we saw many colourful rocks with some art exhibitions and Mr Tomys found man little mushrooms.
After a short break we were divided into two groups. The first group did a herb walk. At first we learned a lot of interesting things about herbs and their effects. After this, the group went to an old farm house and looked at it. The guide explained everything to us.
During this time, the other group made a bag, painted it themselves and put different herbs into it. It smelled funny, but I found the smell was not so good. Then we swapped groups.
At last we could play in the playground and had our break. We went home and arrived at the youth hostel at half past two.
Later we did a lot of sports; I liked to play table-tennis. Some of us played volleyball and a few pupils tested the cold water in the pool.

In the evening we were very hungry, and the dinner was delicious. After dinner, some of us went to Felix's party.
Nobody went to bed early. We had to talk a lot.

On Wednesday we planned a trip to the Siebensteinkopf. The Siebensteinkopf is a mountain.
We couldn't sleep late. The weather wasn't nice, because it was a rainy day.
In the morning we got a very good breakfast and then we packed lunch. Then we started our trip. The way was steep and wet. On the way we had a break. But not too long!!! Then we went to the summit. When we were on it, all the kids were happy. We needed another break then. Then we went back to the hostel.
When we were back from the exhausting trip, the weather was better and we went swimming. The pool was very big and nice.
Later in the afternoon, we painted different things on white T-shirts. We played on a beach-volleyball-field, too.
Later we had a nice party in the bungalow. We had to go to bed at 10 o'clock.
The day was very nice.

After our delicious breakfast we made our packed lunch for our trip to the Jugendwaldheim Schönbrunn with the subject "Feel nature with all your senses".
We went there by bus. It took us to the edge of the forest. After we arrived, we were divided in five groups. The individual groups went separately in the forest. We played very funny games and later the group guide explained things about the trees and the animals which live there. We touched trees, tasted leaves, heard the voices of animals and looked for the others in hide-and-seek.
Then we all met at a little lake, had our lunch and talked about the last days.
At two o'clock the bus took us back to the youth hostel.
In the afternoon, we could play beach-volleyball, swim in the pool or read a book.
Then Mrs Nutischer and Mr Tomys made a short service for us.
After the barbecue we all made a big camp fire and sang many songs. It was half past ten, when we went to bed.
It was a nice, but exhausting day.

This was our last day in Finsterau. We got up at seven o'clock, packed our suitcases or backpacks, stripped our beds and cleaned our rooms. Then we carried our things to the bus parking lot.
After that we had breakfast. We drank tea and orange juice and ate rolls with butter and marmalade, or cheese, or ham. Some of us had cornflakes with milk. It was very delicious.
Thirty minutes later, the buses arrived. It took us two hours to arrive in Bogen. We were very excited about our school reports.
At the bus stop in Bogen our parents were waiting for us. They carried the suitcases and bags to their cars and all the pupils went to their classrooms because our form teachers gave us our school reports for the year 2008/09, our sports diploma and annual report.
And then the school ended and our summer holidays started!
The last week of the school year was great because all the activities in the summer camp in Finsterau were very funny and interesting.
